As one enters the Winchester Sport & Leisure Park, the impressive design and thoughtful planning of its facilities are immediately apparent. Despite its considerable size and complex functions, the building is easy to navigate, with many clever accessible design touches.聽
The architects and the local authority client were faced with several challenges, including strict planning constraints due to its location near the South Downs National Park, and the presence of three underground rivers with high water tables and flood risks. However, they successfully created a building that meets the needs of the community while enhancing the area.聽
