to become a Chartered member, you need one of the following:
- RIBA Parts 1, 2 and 3 (or equivalent**)
OR
- A qualification in architecture which is covered by the EU Professional Qualifications Directive (2005/36/EC)
AND
access to the profession of architect in the EU country in which the qualification was gained
AND
a minimum of two years of professional practical experience
- OR
Registered with the ARB via an annual ARB Mutual Recognition Agreement
AND
A minimum of two years professional practical experience, where the applicant has not passed Part 3

Outside the UK

- Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM)
- Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC)
- Royal Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA)
- Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI)
- South African Institute of Architects (SAIA)
- Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA)
