
A stunning new caf茅 in the Peak District National Park (Destination Longshaw) and an oak-framed contemporary extension to a 19th century estate cottage in Lincolnshire (Old Four Row) are amongst the five projects announced as winners of a 2023 RIBA East Midlands Award. Presented since 1966, RIBA鈥檚 awards set the standard for great architecture across the country.
The winners were announced at a ceremony this evening, at which Lincoln Cathedral鈥檚 striking new Visitor Centre was named as RIBA East Midlands Building of the Year Award 2023 (sponsored by ).听
The 2023 RIBA East Midlands Award winning projects are:
- Destination Longshaw by - A new caf茅 for the National Trust in the Peak District National Park聽
- Lincoln Cathedral Visitor Centre by -Development of the Old Deanery into a new visitor centre with learning centre, exhibition gallery and outdoor space聽
- Maple Lodge by - Contemporary new home in a conservation area in Leicestershire Levitate聽聽
- Museum of Making Derby Silk Mill by - Major transformation of an industrial building in Derby聽
- Old Four Row by - Oak-framed extension to a鈥19th century George Gilbert Scott鈥痙esigned cottage in rural Lincolnshire聽

RIBA East Midlands Award winners will now be considered for a highly coveted RIBA National Award in recognition of their architectural excellence, to be announced on 22 June. The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning projects and announced later in the year.聽
