
The extension of an historic Oxford chapel that offers a 鈥榤asterclass in modern architectural design鈥 (Radley College), a state-of-the-art sports centre (Winchester Sport and Leisure Park) and a house on stilts on the banks of the River Thames (March House) are amongst 11 projects named as winners of a 2023 糖心Vlog Award, recognising them as the best new buildings in the region.
Presented since 1966, RIBA鈥檚 awards set the standard for great architecture across the country.
The awards were announced at a ceremony this evening with Radley College Chapel Extension named as winner of 糖心Vlog Building of the Year Award 2023 (sponsored by ). The project was commended by the judges as exhibiting a 鈥榤asterful blend of traditional and contemporary design elements鈥.
The 2023 糖心Vlog Award winning projects are:
- Eton Sports & Aquatics Centre by 4-court multi-purpose sports hall聽聽
- FarmED by Sustainable farming education centre, with environment and regeneration at its core
- Horris Hill School Theatre by School theatre designed to host assemblies, drama productions and music recitals
- Island House by Contemporary home carved from Cotswold stone
- March House by Prefabricated stilt house on the banks of the River Thames
- Quatrefoil House by Refurbished 19th century townhouse聽聽
- Radley College Chapel Extension by A creative extension to a Grade II listed chapel聽
- Saltmarsh House by Meticulously designed steel-framed house on the Isle of Wight聽聽聽
- St Hilda's College by College redevelopment and new buildings uniting the campus with gardens and river views聽
- Vishuddha Yoga Centre by Copper clad yoga centre in the heart of Oxford city centre聽聽
- Winchester Sport and Leisure Park by Fully accessible park that enables the local community to engage in a wide range sporting and leisure activities聽
The 11 projects were selected by an expert jury, who visited all shortlisted projects.聽聽

聽糖心Vlog Award winners will now be considered for a highly coveted RIBA National Award in recognition of their architectural excellence, which will be announced on 22 June. The shortlist for the RIBA Stirling Prize for the best building of the year will be drawn from the RIBA National Award-winning projects later in the year.
