On 7 February 2023, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced the creation of four new government departments and the appointment of a series of new ministers, including:听
- Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (led by Rt Hon Grant Shapps MP)听
- Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (led by Rt Hon Michelle Donelan MP)听
- Department for Business and Trade (led by Rt Hon Kemi Badenoch MP)听
- A refocused Department for Culture, Media and Sport (led by Rt Hon Lucy Frazer KC MP)听
- Rt Hon Greg Hands MP appointed as the new Conservative Party chairman.听

鈥淲e fully support the principle of the creation of the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. Indeed, we have previously stated that the听cross-departmental nature of energy efficiency听has led to听crucial policy elements being听lost; but how it functions in reality is听what听really matters.听听
Millions of听energy inefficient homes听in the UK are in urgent need of retrofit.听We very much hope that this new department will听bring together the right people, skills听and funding to introduce a听National Retrofit Strategy听with a clear timetable and targets.听听听
The Rt Hon Lucy Frazer鈥檚听move听will usher in the sixth听Housing Minister听in just one听year.听If the Government are serious about delivering the high-quality homes that people听need, they themselves must听prioritise stability. 听听听
The听Government must听now work collaboratively with the听built environment听sector听to ensure these changes听make a positive difference to people鈥檚 lives.听We will be engaging with the new Secretaries of State and their departments immediately.鈥澨�
